ATCSA’s purpose is to improve the quality and practice of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery as a specialty in the region, and encourage basic and clinical research in the field of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery. The organization promotes the professional development of thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons. It organizes and holds a regional congress for scientific presentations and discussions every two years and cooperates with other regional and international bodies in scientific and educational programs. The next ATCSA Congress will be held in 2009, on a date to be announced.
